Matcha ist ein feines, gemahlenes Grünteepulver aus Japan. Es wird aus den Blättern der Camellia sinensis Pflanze gewonnen, die vor der Ernte für einige Wochen beschattet werden, um die Chlorophyllproduktion zu erhöhen und den Geschmack zu verbessern. Matcha ist bekannt für seine intensive grüne Farbe, seinen leicht süßlichen, aber auch leicht herben Geschmack und seine anregende und konzentrationsfördernde Wirkung.
Wird auch als „Espresso unter den Tees“ bezeichnet.
